In an interview with Eurogamer Portugal, studio head Atsushi Inaba said it’s not possible for the studio to resurrect what was supposed to be an Xbox exclusive. That’s because the IP belongs to Microsoft. If the company would let go of it and leave it to Platinum Games, then the possibility would be there.

Scalebound was supposed to be released in 2016, before Platinum Games decided to delay its release. It was in development for a total of about four years before Microsoft ultimately cancelled it in 2017. It was supposed to be a third-person action RPG, starring main character Drew, who is bonded to a dragon called Thuban. With this latest interview, it looks like the prospect of the game coming back anytime soon is slim at best. It’s been three years since the cancellation of Scalebound, and it doesn’t seem like Microsoft is letting the IP go anytime soon. And with that, the hopes of a Nintendo Switch release of the title is also dashed. (Source: Eurogamer Portugal via GamesRadar+. Image: Wikipedia)
