The cause of the delay is due to measures implemented in response to the COVID-19 coronavirus by third-party manufacturers, which has affected the procurement of parts and components for the camera. Along with an apology, Nikon also states that they are planning to release the D6 tentatively in May, and will make another announcement when the new date has been determined.
“We will continue to closely monitor the situation and do our utmost to deliver this new camera as soon as possible. Thank you for your understanding and patience in this matter,” the company adds. As a quick refresher, the Nikon D6 DSLR features a full-frame 20.8MP CMOS sensor with 14fps continuous shooting and 4K video recording capability. It also features an all-new autofocus system, which the company claims to be its most powerful one yet.
